Base coat Revitanail, 3 - 4 coats Sally Hansen Pixel Pretty, top coat Seche Vite. Then a layer of OPI's Black Shatter and another top coat of Seche Vite.
This is an old pic, the day my black shatter arrived at work. I was wearing the SH Pixel Pretty which is a gorgeous shimmery green. Then I opened my delivery, which I believe makes everyone's day where I work as I get so many nail polishes delivered they can't wait to see and try them out. I sometimes if I've ordered extras give some away, it's kind of like a blog with prizes without the typing.
Anyways I digress... So Black shatter...I tried different directions to see what effect this had on the shatter. Ring and index are horizontally applied and middle finger is vertical. I alternated but only caught these 3 fingers in the picture. As you can see application direction does influence the shatter.
So from this my first ever shatter, the love affair has grown. I'm currently waiting on a funky fingers teal scales shatter that I saw on Chloe's nails. I know not everyone is a fan of the shatter, but I am and here is why. When I have chips or smudges and am too tired to redo my mani, a layer of shatter black, blue, pink, purple, silver whichever over the top hides this.
Also it's great for hiding tip wear when again it's been a long work day and I don't have time to redo the mani.
Also if you don't really like the colour for me yellows and oranges enough to wear alone, a layer of shatter makes it wearable so the full colour isn't in your face but you have enough that you can enjoy... small doses...
So anyway, when the teal scales shatter arrives I will share it's awesome purdiness.
